Vision on sustainable development
People, Planet, Profit has long been the formula for sustainable development. But profit is a means, not an end in itself. People, Planet, Peace: that is what it is all about. The goals should be social justice for people, sustainable development to protect nature and our climate, including for future generations, and ultimately peaceful coexistence for people of all backgrounds. Peace requires a broad understanding of sustainability and sustainable cooperation, including social sustainability and justice. Uniting those interests requires parties to develop their understanding of one another, even if they have opposing visions and interests, for example when industry meets civil society and our climate.
FIC promotes dialogue and mutual understanding between stakeholders, that is to say between people. We do this through careful process management and with sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of stakeholders. FIC provides social involvement and the expertise to develop, set up and manage coalitions and partnerships. In doing so, FIC helps parties to work together to find peaceful solutions to complex issues.
